Will 3D Become the New Television Standard?

In technology today, we are witnessing more and more innovation every minute with tablets, smart phones, touchscreen devices, and now 3D television sets. Movies, shows, and even some music videos are now coming out with 3D versions to be played on 3D capable devices. Many computers have had 3D capabilities for years but just recently; TV’s have been added to the list of capable devices that can show you almost perfect 3D images in real-time movement without the need for glasses. There are some shows that are broadcasting in 3D for special episodes and events but usually require you to get 3D glasses unless you own a 3D TV.Additional information can be found at http://www.pcworld.com/article/239486/multiplayer_gaming_goes_full_screen_with_lg_tv.html.

A common reason as to why many believe 3D will be the next standard in digital programming is because of its high support within movie theaters and the fact that many products are now coming equipped with the capability of showing 3D graphics on screen to the viewer. 3D graphics didn’t make their debut into most theaters until late 2004 when 3D glasses were given out to viewers for theater films that featured 3D graphics. Some theaters however, had 3D presentations since 1997. 3D films didn’t get popular until recently when more film studios started seeing that they could make more money through filming 3D because people were attracted to the out-of-the-box experience.

Many TV sets are coming with more advanced technologies that include both 3D display and the ability to use your TV as a computer or touchscreen device. Recently TV production companies have started to show off prototype versions of these TV sets and many of them are coming with pens or stylus’ that are meant to be used in applications on the TV, which allow for you to markup documents, edit photos, write URL’s and browse the web, as well as allowing for you to edit videos as well.
